![]() ![]() The Untitled Goose Game title stuck with fans when the developers started to promote the game on social media. When the game was accepted at the Fantastic Arcade part of the Fantastic Fest in Texas, the developers had not yet named the game, and without any other ideas, they used the title of the gameplay video the publisher had applied with for the submission: Untitled Goose Game. This is probably where the 'storybook' feeling comes from." Developer Michael McMaster also stated that, "A major influence for the game was children’s TV programming from the UK. By removing the violence from it, we just let the situations exist as a joke." The team opted for an English village as the setting, as its "properness" was seen as "the antithesis of what the goose was all about", according to developer Nico Disseldorp. House House member Jake Strasser stated "It has a set-up and a punchline. House House created a structure using missions with specific targets, similar to the mission structure in the Hitman series. Instead of remaining hidden like in most stealth games, the goal was to have the mischief-making goose attract the attention of NPCs and not get caught. After restricting the field of view of the NPCs, the gameplay became stealth-focused. The developers implemented a system where the NPCs would tidy up after an item was moved. The game's playable character, the goose, was originally just a stock image, and the idea was that non-player characters (NPCs) would react to it. They used a similar aesthetic in Untitled Goose Game by choosing to use low poly meshes, flat colours, and untextured 3D models. Their previous game, Push Me Pull You, had 2D art with flat colours. ![]() They wanted players to control a character who could run around in a 3D environment. House House cited Super Mario 64 as the initial inspiration for the type of game that they hoped to build. The team later realised that a game involving a goose protagonist had good potential, and began with the idea of having the goose just be a moving stock image. The game originated from a stock photograph of a goose that an employee posted in the company's internal communications. Untitled Goose Game was developed by four-person indie studio House House, based in Melbourne, Australia. A co-operative local multiplayer option, added in a later update, allows a second player to control a second goose, with both geese trying to accomplish the goals together. Completing all the optional objectives rewards players with a crown for the goose to wear. There are several hidden optional objectives, many of which require traversing multiple areas or completing an area within a time limit. The goose deposits the bell into a ditch full of several other bells it has stolen. ![]() There, the goose steals a golden bell before going back through the previous areas while the villagers try to stop it. After completing four areas, the goose enters a miniature model of the village. When enough of these objectives are cleared, the goose is allowed to move on to the next area. The village is split up into multiple areas, each of which has a "to do" list of objectives, such as stealing certain objects or tricking humans into doing specific things. Set in an idyllic English village, the game follows a domestic goose controlled by the player that can honk, duck down, run, flap its wings, and grab objects with its beak to bother various human villagers. In this gameplay screenshot, the goose (the playable character) honks and chases after one of the villagers. ![]() By the end of 2019, Untitled Goose Game had sold more than a million copies. Dan Golding was nominated for an ARIA award for the music. Game of the Year and GDCA Game of the Year, among other accolades. Untitled Goose Game received positive reviews, with critics praising its gameplay and humor. It was described as "reactive music" due to its nature of playing the clips after certain actions. The music, curated by composer Dan Golding, uses short clips from six of Claude Debussy's Préludes. The game's unusual name came from a last-minute decision in preparing the title as an entry for a games festival. Inspired by Super Mario 64 and the Hitman series, House House worked on combining stealth mechanics with a lack of violence to create humorous in-game scenarios. The idea for Untitled Goose Game originated from a stock photograph of a goose that a House House employee posted in the company's internal communications. It was released for macOS, Nintendo Switch, Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Players must use the goose's abilities to manipulate objects and non-player characters to complete objectives. Players control a goose who bothers the inhabitants of an English village. Untitled Goose Game is a 2019 puzzle stealth game developed by House House and published by Panic Inc. ![]()

The importance of Buddy Holly revealed itself over the decades. ![]() He also wrote “Running Bear” for Johnny Preston, and it later became a #1 hit. Richie Valens had the two-sided hit “La Bamba”/”Donna” (#2), and The Big Bopper (who was a radio DJ) had one major hit “Chantilly Lace” (#6). In 1958, he had 4 more Top-40 hits, with “Maybe Baby” being the only major hit at #17. ![]() (Buddy Holly and The Crickets…Joe Maudlin, bass & Jerry Allison, drums.)īuddy Holly had his first hit “That’ll Be The Day” (#1) in 1957, followed that same year by “Peggy Sue” (#3) and “Oh Boy” #(10). That’s probably the way it was for many people. The fact is, except for knowing “That’ll Be The Day” and “Peggy Sue”, I wasn’t very aware of how special Buddy Holly was until years later. I was 10 years old, and the news wasn’t everywhere like it is today. I don’t remember the news story from when it first broke. Because of the song “American Pie”, that tragic event is often referred to as “The day the music died”. So when percussionist Jerry Allison found the perfect sound to keep the rhythm of the song it was quite literally a knee-slapping moment, (well close enough anyway) the momentum leading the tempo of the song is actually him slapping the side of his thigh. It was February 3rd, 1959 when a plane crash killed Buddy Holly (22), Richie Valens (17), and J.P. However, with the low volume of the acoustic instrumentation being played by the rest of the band, it must have proven tricky to allow a percussive instrument of any volume. To counteract this recording engineers would use a proximity effect to balance the level of the band, placing the loudest instruments further away from the microphone or behind baffles to dampen them and physically move musicians closer and further away from the microphone in certain segments to adjust their volume. In the days before multi-tracking, songs had to be cut live using one microphone to record the band and vocals in one take, this meant that instruments could not simply be turned up or down in the mix to balance them out. However, it is the curious percussion that is not quite rigid enough to be a metronome, not quite snappy enough to be a snare rim, and too damp to be a woodblock that draws the case into question, what is it? It’s actually the simplest so far. In an age when instrumentation in commercial music was still being solidified, it features an acoustic bass, acoustic guitar, vocals and an odd keyboard come glockenspiel hybrid called a Celesta. One of which was ‘Everyday’, a song written in 1957 as a B-side to arguably Holly’s most well-known song ‘Peggy Sue’ but, in the years that followed, the song has gone on to become a classic in its own right. It was at Petty’s studio and with Brunswick Records that some of his most cherished songs were composed and recorded. Disappointed with the results of being with a major, Holly took himself to see Norman Petty and form The Crickets. As the new generation of rock ‘n’ roll came to the fore, pushing pop music as it did, Holly was an integral member of the welcoming party.Īfter a run of supporting both Elvis Presley and Bill Haley, Holly decided that music was the only career for him and with the help of Eddie Crandall was signed up to Decca records. He was only in his early 20s but, despite his young age, he had begun to find nationwide acclaim and beyond. Involved in a plane crash alongside Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper, Holly sadly died at the height of his fame. Born in Texas on September 7th 1936, much of Holly’s legend is sadly swallowed up by his famous death, a moment in history known widely as “the day the music died”. When you’re thinking of rock ‘n’ roll legends it’s hard to find an artist more integral and pivotal in the genre’s birth and cultivation than Buddy Holly. ![]() Buddy Holly on the other hand-before his untimely passing-helped define popular music, directly influencing countless artists including The Beatles and Elton John and created a back catalogue of some of the most timeless recordings of all time.
